Are these ex KCS/TM/TFM GP40Rs coming or going? Sorry about them being on the "Dark Side" but I had been up all night coming in from Chicago.

They are coming. LSRC is power short. they are having to lease power from the HESR. sad to see more emd's but maybe they'll look good in the LSRC blue.

Sweet! I'm with you on the EMDs Patrick, but new power! Maybe an excuse to get to Saginaw/BC this summer? My roster is already outdated.

Are these four units an addition to their roster, or replacing some outdated power...??? :?:

Short power my foot. They have been using them almost everyday and use them to the extreme on trackage that is technically unfit, and should never be used by a Class 2 railroad. Now, whats wrong with their C425's? or the new power they got from CN a few years back? They tear -up prefectally good locomotives and use them til' they can break em'. I don't expect them to last very long on the LSRC.

The cowl units came off the Kelowna Pacific. My son & I saw them out in BC in 2000 and they looked tired. If IRC, one of them came in a gon:( They looked alot better after spending some time in the LSRC shops.

PS: Hope you don't intend to ask them for permission to visit their shops for photos

You need to remember that the locos they had were enough power for the Bay City to Alpena and Gaylord routes. With the additional traffic picked up on the old CSX routes, and with one third of the power purchased for those routes gone somewhere, they've probably been running at capacity with the power they had. With new traffic and/or any increase due to good service or seasonal traffic, they probably didn't have enough power to keep up with demands, and at that rate (plus with the fact that locomotives have to be inspected regularly and the risk of having one develop problems requiring semi-extensive repairs, getting new power really does make sense. I think the key here isn't the shape of their trackage at all. The key is the length of their routes, the amount of traffic on their routes and the amount of horsepower available on a regular basis to move that traffic.

How about that! Ex Chessie GP40s coming back to their original home. Well sort of. Just close your eyes and envision these babies in Chessie paint at the Saginaw yard roundhouse!

Seems like the LSRC / SBS roster has around 12 or more units. Anyone know how many they need? Here's what I show:
- 1 or 2 in Grayling
- 2 or 3 in Bay City for day switching and evening Tawas Turn
- 2 or 3 in Alpena for day switching evening Tawas Turn
- 1 or 2 in Saginaw for Bay City Turn
- 2 or 3 in Saginaw for Midland Turn
- 1 or 2 in Saginaw for Paines Turn
- 1 or 2 in Saginaw for local switching
- Units from Saginaw can be used on Flint night Turn
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Ok, I get it. But, are those Geeps able to handel the trackage that their current locomotives can barely handel? But, on the other hand, it would be cool to see them in the LSRC Blue.....
