Sounds like #3 went down the ex-ATSF thru Joliet, like the old days.

Old route did go via Joliet between Chicago & Galesburg prior to the 1995 merger. This is the closest I've seen to a pic of the detour #3 at Joliet. Not at the station, but in town.
