Just got a text update from South Shore that a CN train derailment. Train hit a bridge south of Kensington. The text at 20:18 EDT says "WB Trains 222 & 22 are also delayed indefentily due to a freight train hitting bridge S. of Kens." Text 2 at 21:26 says " UPDATE: All Trains are delayed indefinitely due to a CN derailment. CN bringing rescue train to remove blocking train. Further updates to follow."

Learned that it was in the vicinity of 115th street. Did not affect Metra operations at all. Metra did accept South Shore tickets for a while due to SS not being able to serve Metra stations, but looks like that ended a little bit ago.

No updates from SS texts yet.

As of 22:30 EDT yesterday, the wreckage was all clear and trains were moving. I'm going to scan through Facebook to see if I can find any news info.

Facebook info:

ABC 7 (has a pic) http://abc7chicago.com/traffic/train-de ... ns/684500/

Chicago Sun Times: http://chicago.suntimes.com/stng-wire/7 ... ine-trains

It looks like no cars derailed after all, just the intermodal damage.
