Wasn't there an interchange track in place here until 10-12 years ago or so?

Two turnouts are scheduled to be installed on CSX 11-17. Once track is completed it will be used by one train a day in each direction till new interlocking is automated.

I think this is going to happen a lot more with all of this talk to bypass Chicago.

From the sounds of it, BNSF is talking about building a 4 to 5 track interchange yard on their side. I would assume this would facilitate 1000 mile or 3000 mile inspections.

Ballast train for new connection shows being at Roselake. Although it does not sound like the new transfer is ready for ballast.

First train I've seen come off the connection was a K122-13 today. Headed towards Columbus.

From what I hear it sounds like some of the Yorktown Virginia oil trains will transfer at Smithboro replacing St. Louis.
