Garrett & Butler - where to park?

Unread post by SW »

I'm working in Auburn, IN this week and I'd like to check out Garrett and Butler. Where are some good places to park? I don't want to be hassled by cops. I STILL don't have a camera, so I am not so concerned about camera angles. Won't be able to get to either place until after 5 or so each evening.

I know about the scanner law in Indiana.

Thanks for any advice you can give. Off to Garrett now...

Garrett
North side of tracks off 327/Randolf street. West RR street up by the museaum park in the lot.

After 5:00 the show in both places should be just geting started.

Never had a problem with scanner in the car but..........

Perfect. Just what I was looking for. Thanks, Scooterb.

I found the RR museum park in Garrett west of Randolph (IN-327). Saw an EB 82-car tank train with BNSF 5019 & FURX 7253 as power. I think it was K681-03; was trying to be discreet. It cleared Randolph at 17:55.

Ten minutes later, a WB train of 8 empty gons was yarded by CSX 6049 & 2554. Might have been ?716-03.

That's all there was up to 18:30 when I left. An EB of 50 or more autoracks was idling there the whole time, with CSX 8100 & 8453 on the front.

Tomorrow, if it's not icy out, Butler.
