70's C&O derailment Michigan City

I"m looking for confirmation of one of my memories. As a boy in the seventies I remember a train derailment on the Grand Rapids Sub of the C & O in Michigan City, IN. Maybe 6-10 cars derailed between Franklin St. and Tilden Ave. I've looked at just a little bit of the microfilm at the library, but gave up because I couldn"t narrow a date down. I have asked locals about the incident and just get blank stares. I'm starting to think some of the things I did in the seventies altered my memory bank. I hope some of you older rail fans can confirm this incident for my sanity's sake.
