Colehour yard in Hammond,IN.
Asking about Colehour yard. I am to understand it was a former PRR. Looking for somemore facts about this yard during the PC and Conrail years and how it is used now by the Norfolk Southern.
THANKS M. SHIREY

It's a block storage yard for intermodal stacks. They stage stuff there so the other two yards are kept clear for stuff they are working on.
Also gets used to store blocks of Coil Steel cars.
Some of the shortest southernmost leads are used by the local to store cars for nearby industries.

OK Thanks, for that information. Did PC and CR use this yard for local switching crews? Also how did this yard get it's stock of cars for local switching? Is there a CR symbol for this yard?

I believe CR had at least one local stationed out of Colehour that worked the refineries nearby.

Chicago Short Line interchanged with Conrail at Colehour.
It became the South Chicago and Indiana Harbor Railway in 2003.

Sounds like it got busier after the CR breakup.
