INE acquires pair of SD40-2's.

Apparently the INE is getting a pair of SD40-2's so they will no longer need NS power on the big grain and unit trains.

Also these two will be PTC equipped so any trains entering the NS will have at least one of them.

They did not need the NS power but used it anyhow. The power was often dedicated power and stuck with the train. So I imagine you will still see NS power on grain trains on the INE..

Thank you, Notch 8! Was 3125 originally a SD45?

Apparently they did because of the PTC in Montpelier Yard.

Which means ALL INE traffic will require one or both of these SD40-2s.

Only moves going to the NS need PTC engines. Moves staying wholly within the INE don't.

Hey guys for the record...neither of these units currently have any PTC technology installed. Also, as these will certainly help with hauling heavier grain trains, all of the foreign power we have ever had from the NS was dedicated with that train.

Indiana Northeastern 3125 has been delivered and placed into service, A great addition to an all EMD roster ! There is another SD40-2 that has yet to be delivered but 3125 will be my favorite of the two as it 3125 has an SD45 carbody !

Firsr off 3084 is an SD40-2 and 3125 is a SD40M-2 kiss seeing NS power on the grain trains because NS wanted Indiana Northeastern to pay money for using NS engines on the grain trains even tho there NS grain trains and there making profit off of those trains anyways NS wanted money for them running NS power on the INE which is stupid considering NS is woth almot 45 billion dollars and the INE is only worth like 380k so the fact NS is that petty is pretty annoying so we wont see NS power on the grain trains anymore

No it's life. GM has more money than me but I don't get free use of a car. I have a better job than my neighbor but I don't give him a car to use.

INER is just a small shortline and NS leases from INER so that fact NS is a multi billion dollar company amd is worried about getting money from a small shortline using NS locomotives to load an NS grain train when NS is gonna make more off the grain train then the locomotive run time anyways
