Several X-Ings Closed in South Bend Today

Looks like they are replacing some rail in South Bend, which is closing some crossings temporarily.

On Monday every crossing from Elkhart yard (Ash Rd) to Oakside Ave in Mishawaka was closed during evening rush hours. Emergency vehicles and school buses had to make 10-15 mile detours. There were little or no notifications and no detour signs.

I saw a rail train eastbound through Elkhart in the early evening but didn't think much of it. It was pulled by a single bright red CP engine and wasn't dropping rail.

The rail train that was working had 2 NS engines and was facing west.
