It will soon cost more to ride the South Shore. Starting July 1st, there will be a $2 increase in fares. That means it will cost $13 one-way from South Bend to Chicago. It will also cost $2 more to purchase tickets on the train instead of at a station.

With ticket machines plentiful at the stations that should not be a problem.
People with smartphones can also buy tickets on their phones ... eTicketing lives.
The $2 does not apply at stations where there are no machines unless a ticket agent is available.
