Are any of the NS Chicago Line train estimates based on any real data?

No. Just a lot of guesswork and imagination.

Just a lot of records and logs
NS documents? Rail fan observations? Were the movements, times and dates recorded or is it recollections?

Yes as a matter of fact I do record trains. In a yearly, computer recorded binder that are all over 120 pages. I've seen 696 trains in both 2010 and 2011, 788 trains in 2012, 904 in 2013, and 929 in 2014. I record time, company, engine #, #cars, direction, type, and location. I'd say theyre significant logs and records

Except BL2 has records from the same spot for every train he has witnessed (he lives right on the tracks) since 1971!

Yeah I record all the trains I see. And while I haven't done it very long (only 6 yrs) I have records from 16 different states and provinces and from all my railfanning experiences

I have everything I have filmed since May? Of 2012 logged. Works out to 535 entries, granted a half dozen don't involve a train - like the Godfrey signal cutover and GR Amtrak Grand Opening...

We can absolutely verify that CSX train counts between Garrett and Deshler are 70-75 trains a day. It isn't like one of the people posting here is a track inspector on that section of track or anything.

Ummm ok? I never said it wasn't 75 a day. I just thought it was lower...but apparently not. No matter what number I say someone's going to disagree
