Black NS caboose in East Wayne yards

Unread post by sharpie77 »

Anyone have information on the black NS caboose that has been in East Wayne yards in New Haven for over a week? It looks like it is in the repair track outside the car repair shop.

All I know is that it used to be NW 518066 in badly faded original NW paint prior to this repaint. Its lettered in the same style they used for the "six fives"(NS 555555, ex NW 518555), but they didn't use red paint this time. Maybe the car shop just wanted to be different :?

Hi,

N&W 518066, a wood, cupola, Class CF car, built by N&W in 5/15, was sold to HPT&D RR scores of years ago. NS 555066 is the former N&W 555066, a Class C32P, built by International Railway Car Co., in 7/76.
