According to the DeKalb County dispatchers, one train has hit a parked train between Waterloo and Butler, Indiana.

They say it happened at U.S. 6 and County Road 47.

NewsChannel 15's Rod Hissong is on the scene; he says there are multiple cars off the tracks.

21N to unhook from train. Pull up to train 925 and prepare to pull train from derailed engines. Sounds like derailment is blocking 47. This is by the elevator.

Derailment does not look to bad from the pictures on. http://www.wane.com/dpp/news/local/deka ... e-derailed
looks like the 925 is a ballast train.

Report from someone on #29 is that it will be rerouted thru Michigan.

This is from TO:
Nobody goes thru Michigan. 29 got to Wonderloo and reversed back to Toledo, 49 made it to Toledo. All passengers being bussed with alternate transportation provided to destinations. Trains 30 and 48 will originate at Toledo and of course the connections from Chicago will be bussed.
29 must have been near Butler because there's no way it made Waterloo. As for weather they do go through Michigan or not, who knows.

I went by it that evening with Y@..Did not look very bad....5 or 6 grain cars were off to the side with the worst being the one that got rear-ended...The 925 ran into the back of 359.Everything was clear by evening.

The car that rear eand was the box car sitting in front of the engine , the cars that came off the track were further up in the train.. like 6-7 cars.
5-6 grain cars are laying at the site now, awaiting a visit of the Torch ! You are right it was not a bad accident and traffic was restored after 8 hours, Got lucky this time. Word is the crew of 925 was apparently asleep !
