NS Derailment in Waterloo?
I know there was a tie up there earlier because of an individual with some mental health issues, but it sounded like I just heard NS Toledo West say that he has a train derailed in Waterloo, Indiana with both tracks blocked. Can anyone confirm?
Reception is darn hot this evening, as I normally do not hear Toledo West...

NS 680 put 38 loads on the ground at MP367. reroutes for the fleet west of Clevland VIA Butler to Fort Wayne the rest will go VIA Fostoria. 22W backto Chi town then down to Fostoria.
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Unconfirmed report the cars just missed the historic depot in town that is being restored.
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Will this potentially create heavy traffic on Chicago line once its back open or will they have rerouted prior to that. Wanna go to Wauseon and click a few shots.

Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Sounds like they have a bunch of trains tied down/ outlawed due to the shut down of the line earlier in the day. Anyway there is always heavy traffic on the Chicago line;)
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
how does it look for 48/49 and 28/29 to come trough Michigan?
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Unconfirmed report, all the cars at the AMTK platform were wiped out
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Have not heard about the eastbound signal bridge but 2 of the westbound signals are on the ground

ATCS shows an eastbound heading into the siding at LaPorte, an eastbound heading into the siding at South Bend, and an eastbound in Dunlap siding just east of Elkhart (and one lined in behind him from the yard). There also appears to be two trains sitting on main 1 between CP 426 and CP 423 in Elkhart.

Captian Caps is on site.
derailment is from the crossing just east of the platform eastward. major Hulcher operation ongoing 7 pieces of equipment operating within 20 yards of where he is standing.TOTAL DEVASTATION
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Report from Pat C on site Hulcher estimating 10-12 pm before line is reopen. also eastimation the it is costing NS upwards of $800,000 an hour for cleanup and reoutes.
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Are they rerouting most of the freights thru Ohio now and not the Michigan line?
Re: NS Derailment in Waterloo?
Yes most reoutes I understand are using the Butler Connection down to Fort Wayne or headed through either CSX or Ns through Fostoria. We may see 331 or 332 38E or 39E on the Michigan line but I wouldnt bet on it. MAybe 20N? or anything else that would originate/terminate in Elkhart to Detroit area.
