NICTD/South Shore Work

Unread post by GreatLakesRailfan »

Had the opportunity to check out the South Shore/NICTD in NW Indiana this weekend and noticed that they're in the process of replacing a number of their wooden electric poles (that hold the overhead wire). Looks like it would be interesting to watch some of the work, although I didn't see any equipment for the work between Burns Harbor and Gary. One would think this work would almost have to be performed at night (when the electric trains aren't running).

The South Shore has some large weekend service curfews coming up to do a lot of this work.
