The 5000ft view of CP 453 with crossovers ---
cp453-jun17th.jpg

I wish the "before" picture was better. I did not expect the "after" picture to be as good as it turned out. A comparison is below. The after picture is in better focus (I can read the mile marker) and the switch heaters are visible with the white tubes feeding the heat down to the switches.

Don't take the scenic route ---
cp501-June24-2100.png

Captured at the top of the hour - a route from track 1 east of CP 501 was cleared to track 1 west of CP 501 passing through a diverging route. As the train approached the route was taken down (at 10 past the hour). Then after five minutes the switches changed and a more direct route was cleared. The train passed through without diverging.

So, how bad would it have been if the train would have taken the diverging route? Too much risk of stringlining and a derailment? I am surprised that the switch cleared a 1-1 path that wasn't direct, but it would have worked on paper.

Maybe Chicago West anticipated something coming out the yard at Pine and that didn't end up happening.

A train out of Pine would not have made it out of the interlocking with the west crossover reversed.

BTW: The cantilever at CP 435 EB is now in place (behind the current signal).

Any evidence of work at CP 437 yet?

All of the new signals at CP 437 have been up since 2015. I have pictures from August 2015 and Google Earth aerials from September 21, 2015, show the new CP 437 signals and heaters. The new signals at CP 437 are nearly exact replacements for the old ... with some variation for the number of heads.

West of CP 437 there are new intermediates (not yet active) all the way to CP 448.

(CP 423 has the new WB up and bagged ... the new EB is sitting on the ground ready to be raised. Google Earth has aerials from April 2017 ... before the cantilevers were added but showing the towers in place.)

Happy happy happy.

75508800130202 40 bits
75508800140202 48 bits
75508800150202 40 bits

Looks like CP 466 is also seeing some love.

Would that leave CP 482 as the last CP that has not been updated between CP 515 (Englewood) and CP 453 (Rolling Prairie)?

CP 482 (and CP 483) are probably considered "current", at least from a mnemonics standpoint, so I would not expect any changes there.

Does anyone recall a pattern of how long after the test addresses appear before the cutovers actually occur?

CP 452 was seen May 25th and went live June 11th (just over two weeks).

The new westbound cantilever at CP 466 was up and in service yesterday (or before ... it has been a while since I checked). The new eastbound signals at CP 466 were inactive yesterday, although I have not seen an MCP since 7:37am this morning so NS may be doing something today (track 2 and the siding were OOS when I started this post - all tracks are OOS at the moment I posted - MCPs started flowing around 11:21 ET). WB at CP 466 is 1-3-2 for exiting the siding, 3-3 on track 2 and 3-2 on track 1 (lamps in each head). The bottom head on track 1 WB was bagged when I passed yesterday near sunset.

The intermediates between CP 466 and CP 463 were active on the new cantilever when I went by yesterday. 3-2 in both directions on both tracks except no lower head WB on track 1. (No diverging route on track 1 WB so no need for the approach medium or approach limited aspects. Just clear, approach and stop.)

The new WB signals at CP 463 and all new signals at CP 462 were bagged, ready for Monday. I was short on time so I didn't look at CP 463 EB on yesterday's trip.

There is a camp train in Laporte across from the old station. 8 camp cars, a generator car (running), "NS960424MW" silver dining car, and 11 more cars with white boxes on flat cars and another generator car. There were more cars east of the Detroit St crossing.

466 looks like it got a new machine too.

And it looks like we have our first deviation from the "cookie cutter" bit setups that were put in place way back when CP 479 went online. 466 and 462 have a little different order.

CP 482 at 1:49am CT ---
4NWK,3NWK,2NWK,1NWK,8NWK,7NWK,6NWK,5RWK,3EGK,9NWK,2LZK,1LZK,9LZK,8LZK,7LZK,6WXK,FIN2K
CP 482 at 1:50am CT ---
4NWK,8NWK,7NWK,6NWK,9NWK,3TK,2TK,DTK,CTK,BTK,1TK,2LZK,1LZK,GTK,FTK,ETK,6TK,5TK,4TK,9LZK,8LZK,7LZK,6LZK,5LZK,4LZK,3LZK,6WXK,1EAK,AEAK,9TK,3EAK,2EAK,FIN2K,LINK,6SRQK,6ERQK,SHXBP0K,482P0K

Hopefully that will clear up - but switches out of correspondence and a lot of immediately occupied track looks bad.
(At first glance I thought NS was changing the codeline ... but it appears to be a bigger issue. Probably a power failure in the western cabinet since there was no train in the interlocking at the time of the failure.)

CP 435 was upgraded within the past day or so, according to another forum (ATCS confirms it). I wonder how soon CP 437 will happen.
