MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — A man apparently committed suicide by stepping in front of a CSX Freight Train near Farmington Road in Miami Twp., according to Miami Twp. Police Maj. John DePietro.

DePietro said the crew of the train notified police that they had struck someone on the tracks Thursday morning, July 31. When police arrived they found a Jeep parked along the tracks just south of Farmington Road.

DePietro said an occupant of the vehicle, registered to an owner in Carlisle, apparently walked about 200 yards south along the tracks. The crew of the northbound train said they saw the man lean over the tracks as the train approached.

DePietro said though no note has been found, the death is being investigated as a suicide.

"There are so many agencies that you can reach out to if you are considering ending your life," he said. "There was a crew of three people on that train and their lives are affected too. They're going to have to live with this for the rest of their lives."
