Tank Car leak In Cincy ohio

Unread post by patrick »

A unknown Black tankcar on a spur is reportly leaking large amounts of styrene at this hour. Cincy fire deptartmants are dousing the car with water to try to keep the car from exploding. Styrene is a highly falmable material.

Did you happen to see those propane cars in Flint a couple years ago that caught on fire? It would have been interesting to see one of those actually explode (except for all the people around it that would have been injured, that wouldn't have been cool at all). Have there been many instances where tank cars have exploded? Seems everytime I hear that there is danger of that happening, the people on the scene are good enough at what they do that they can prevent it from happening. No "boom", but no tragedy either.

I did not see it, when it was on fire. It sat outside the office for a couple of years, until one day these guys showed up and scraped it. Problem was it was not suposed to be cut up. Lets just say that sombody was in hot water.
