Love how they jump all over NS saying their bridges are poorly maintained and are in danger of falling down. If that idiot only knew just how much the FRA requires for inspections of bridges. Most highway bridges would not pass FRA standards.

Pedestrian Bridges are not expensive to build - they're just expensive to plan.

This may be a case where refurbishment is the best option.

Glad to see that the city folks are trying to be helpful, since of just complaining!

City Council is mainly just posturing because they're politicians and that's what they do. Ultimately though it's a "free infrastructure project" for the city for NS to remove it on their own dime so it's kind of a no-brainer they'll eventually just let them do it. It'll save the city future costs so why not? As to the poor local residents - there's another bridge with a sidewalk that's maybe a 1/4 mile detour so it's hard to justify spending the money on a replacement bridge (so that won't happen). It'll be a loss for us fans though!

You have a link to said standards?

How about a link for this while you're at it.

What is wrong with just keeping the walking bridge. To knock it down NS is going to spend some big money when in turn they can fix the bridges that need to be repaired and painted in Toledo. Just shows you where the powers of NS have their head.

NS lets rail lines and bridges rot then abandon them. it's cheaper for them to do that. They just run their route on another line.

NS heads are at" It's a city bridge. The city could save it and repair it at anytime. That's like saying because you live along NS tracks they should remodel your house.
