CSX reducing Columbus intermodal (Willard info in comments)

CSX is doing the same thing to Columbus as it is doing to Detroit and Louisville. Cutting service to almost two dozen locations.

Harrison thinks only he knows best. It remains to be seen if he does.

Some additional news from Ohio, CSX may be cutting it's hump at Willard soon.

This is a natural result of all of the nearby origin terminals, such as Grand Rapids, Detroit, Toledo, etc doing all of their own blocking at origin. Only need block swapping now, since there isn't anywhere close to as many cars that need to be humped at Willard anymore. If North Baltimore picks up much of the block-swapping, Willard could be just another crew change point before too long.

Almost wonder if they'd try to make North Baltimore the crew change point and scrap Garrett and Willard? Audacious, but that's Harrison's part!

Be an awful lot of dead crews between Republic and Fostoria just waiting to get through F tower on a busy night. I remember when CSX tried running the PIT crews from Blue Island all the way to Willard in the 90's crews would die in Tiffin on a daily basis. Of coarse being a teenage railfan and living near West side of town where they usually stopped the trains was awesome for me but I'm sure the crews didn't like it much. Although more then one crew wound up walking to the VFW waiting for a taxi...
