Interurban cars near West Salem

Unread post by sp4380 »

While traveling near West Salem, OH this Sunday, We ran across 2 old streetcars or Interurban cars in a yard on the west side of Zimmerman Rd north of 111 (Jeffery Rd). Not far from Dragway 42.

Does anyone have any info on these cars?

Thanks, Terry

Terry,

I believe these were from Ron Jedlenka's collection at Homerville. I will look into this for you. Stay tuned.

And the answer is:

The cars both belong to Ron Jedlicka who lives near Buckeye Lake. The orange car is LSE freight motor #39, while the metal car is from out of state, Atlantic & Western 1134. He used to have tons more there but moved them all to the Buckeye Lake area except those. I've been trying, with the Northern Ohio Railway Museum, to purchase his Cleveland Southwestern #121 but he just won't budge (seems to be a pack rat). It's still at Buckeye Lake with all his other cars.

I didn't know whose they were, but I've been watching his street cars sink into the ground for years. Such a sad sight. You can see them from Interstate 70.

Hope this link works.
