Well cars on Maumee Branch Line
For a few days now, a long string of WellCars have been sitting on NS's Ex-NKP line through South Toledo and Maumee, OH. Does Anyone know why these are sitting here? The only freight that traverses this line is that to/from Anderson's and too and from a grain refinery just east of Waterville. Unless NS is storing the equipment, I can't imagine what reason NS would have for using well cars on the line. If anyone can give an explanation that would be great.
I'll take a hotstot intermodal over a manifest any day

If they havn't moved for awhile I would come to the conclusion that they are being STORED. Gotta put em somewhere out of the way and what better place then this to do it?

Yeah but it is a fairly frequently used siding, I can't imagine NS being able to store anything for more than a couple weeksDoktor No wrote:If they havn't moved for awhile I would come to the conclusion that they are being STORED. The lead to the Ford/Visteon plant in Monroe. Lotsa room, and no prospect for activity.Doktor No wrote:Gotta put em somewhere out of the way and what better place then this to do it?

Believe it or not, DTE is investing BIG money into the Port of Monroe area. The are trying to attract shipping business to the area. This coincides with the CN buying up property along the Shoreline sub ( area south of Woodruff road ) for a yard.JCinSummerfield wrote:The lead to the Ford/Visteon plant in Monroe.
