New Expansion Underway at NS Airline Yard in Toledo?

Unread post by GlassCityPhotos »

According to the Toledo Blade, Fearing Blvd, which passes beneath NS Airline Yard in Toledo, will be intermittently closed this weekend for beam installation at the railroad overpasses. http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2015/0 ... affic.html. About a month ago, this same section of road was closed for the removal of an apparently unused railroad bridge. http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2015/0 ... close.html

Does anybody know if this work is related to the proposed expansion of Airline Yard that was approved by the city's planning commission last year, but has not yet been formally announced by NS? http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2014/0 ... minal.html

Was told this bridge is for the trucks going into the van site. Something about needing more lanes in and out to prevent trucks from stopping on 3/16 lead

Thanks for the reply. Good to see NS making improvements to the traffic flow even if it is not a big expansion.

I'm just curious if you've heard any updates. I noticed in today's Blade http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2015/0 ... ekend.html that NS is removing yet another bridge in the area.

That sounds logical. Is this weekend's road closing also related to this one bridge?

Another weekend, another closure on Fearing Blvd for railroad overpass work at Airline Yard. Perhaps the truck bridge was the first part, but it appears that there is more to the scope of the project than just that.

The bridge is so there are 4 lanes for trucks, a new track will be going in between 5 main and the van site running the length of the van site yet it will be outside along 5 main for car storage
