When was this part taken out. Also when was the Lima to Marion portion removed?

Alger to Lima was gone before 1982, when my Columbus Division track chart was printed. From Marion to Alger was called the Harrod Running Track and was abandoned, based on penciled in notes on the pages, by 1985. The tracks in Ohio City were removed recently, having been owned by the Van Wert County Port Authority, in 2011 IIRC. Of course if I am wrong then please feel free to correct me.

The tracks through Ohio City were removed in 2011 indeed.

Contractors work piling up various steel components in Ohio City. All that is left of the mighty Erie Railroad is piles of rails, tie plates, ties, and the rails that are left embedded in the asphalt of each road crossing.

There is about a mile of the Erie main in place in Kenton. There is a connection off the Toledo Branch at the old location of Sands. This piece of trackage is simply referred to as "the Algers" and it also curves around with a small portion of the Big 4 Sandusky Division that runs a short distance south.

Track was still in place on the Alger I.T. west of Kenton and into Alger proper as late as 1994 when I was making trips up 235 (to visit the now-defunct Ada Model RR Club). If I remember correctly, the trackage was physically removed by the end of the decade.

The Commission has issued a certificate authorizing the
Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail) to abandon its 14.34-mile Alger
Industrial Track between Kenton (milepost 25.16) and Alger (milepost
39.50 in Hardin, County, OH. The abandonment was granted subject to
standard employee protective conditions and the condition that Conrail
must not salvage or dispose of 9 bridges on the line until completion
of the section 106 process of the National Historic Preservation Act,
16 U.S.C. 470f.
The abandonment certificate will become effective 30 days after
this publication unless the Commission finds that: (1) a financially
responsible person has offered financial assistance (through subsidy or
purchase) to enable rail service to be continued and (2) it is likely
that the financial assistance will fully compensate Conrail.
Requests for public use conditions must be filed with the
Commission and Conrail within 10 days after publication.
Any offers of financial assistance must be filed with the
Commission and Conrail no later than 10 days from the publication date
of this Notice. The following notation must be typed in bold face on
the lower left-hand corner of the envelope containing the offer:
``Office of Proceedings, AB-OFA''. Any offer previously made must be
remade within this 10-day period.
Information and procedures regarding financial assistance for
continued rail service are contained in 49 U.S.C. 10905 and 49 CFR
1152.27. Requests for public use conditions must conform with 49 CFR
1152.28(a)(2).

Definitely remember JAL symbol (Alger) empty grain trains as late as 1993.

One of the diamonds actually sat by itself in its original location in the grass lot as late as 2001.
