More Rail Maps
Here are a couple of rail maps I have not yet completed but I think are willing to be shared.
Sidney: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit? ... 9ZD7aXOWts
Troy and Piqua: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit? ... MzI5Gl7vqc
Also, here is a link to a map I think every Ohio railroad enthusiast should have bookmarked;
1918 OH RR Map: http://www.railsandtrails.com/Maps/Ohio ... index.html
As always, please inform me if any link or map does not work/shows issues.
Everyone is free to add/change anything I have on the map, just tell me and I'll make sure to do it.

Re: More Rail Maps
Thanks for doing the maps. Especially including the Wellston Sub on the east side of Dayton. There's been some incredible Xenia pics shared on Facebook from the late '70s.

Re: More Rail Maps
Midland have you seen any pictures of Wellston trains crossing the NYC/Erie at Tates Point? I've seen EL and Conrail but never any B&O.

Re: More Rail Maps
I've seen several. They were taken by a gentleman that grew up in the area and then later worked the line. They can be found in the photo album section of the B&O Southwestern Yahoo group. Or some of the Facebook train groups. He currently is putting a ton of Dayton and Xenia pics up there.

Next Map is the Queen City. This map is modern ops only. I may add abandoned lines later in time. So here it is:

Re: More Rail Maps
Was looking around on the Cin-Day map at the NS Middletown Industrial Branch and noticed that the Middletown Water Treatment Plant actually has it's own rail spur. Any idea on why it would have a rail spur and if it might be in use today? Thanks and I should be working on a Springfield map once I get the time to do so, most likely over the weekend.
Also, if anyone has a Google account and would like to make/edit maps with me, please send me a pm. I'll gladly take the help!

Was the air base served off of the Erie Dayton Branch?937TrainFan wrote:New one up! Here is Dayton and the surrounding suburbs.

Re: More Rail Maps
I believe one power plant was serviced by the Erie, while another was served by the NYC. Both have been relaced by smaller, more efficient plants. I believe the one serviced by the Erie was at the corner of Oak St. and S. Broad St.

Re: More Rail Maps
I believe both had access to Wright Patt. The Erie and NYC mains were used as double track between Cold Springs and McFadden Ave in Riverside (just west of Tates Point Tower). Erie was the eastbound and the NYC westbound side. When they pulled up the Erie main they left a section to access the power plant off of Rt 444, but I don't remember ever seeing any inbound cars there. Not sure when they pulled up the spur into the plant off of Kauffman Road.

Re: More Rail Maps
I also remember seeing pictures of an Air Force GE tonner on base property, but I'm not sure where the spur was located and when it was pulled up. The latest picture I saw was in the 80s.

Re: More Rail Maps
The spur into the base for the warehouses came off the Erie main just past the Central Ave (Kauffman Rd) grade crossing. It the swung west back towards the base running between Dayton Drive and Greene St. Crossed what was then Broad St/RT 444 into the base. Track was still in place but unused when I was at Wright State '93-94. Tracks came out a couple years later I believe.
More interesting to me was the Portland Cement quarry line in Fairborn. Saw them running a couple times. Tracks came up late '90s. Part of the ROW still used by Cemex for the new plant several miles outside of Fairborn.

Thanks. I now see all of the ROWs on the base.midland sub wrote:The spur into the base for the warehouses came off the Erie main just past the Central Ave (Kauffman Rd) grade crossing. This link used to be the best interactive rail map as far as showing current operating lines, abandoned lines, and old interurban railroads. You could zoom in and it would show exactly where the tracks are/were. It seems this link is not working anymore. Does anyone know of a similar link?

Re: More Rail Maps
I do remember seeing this map a few years ago. PUCO changed their whole website sometime in the last 2 years, probably getting rid of their old servers and maps, which is very unfortunate. The railroad section of PUCO now primarily focuses on crossings and hazmat now.

Update announcement time!
Ohio Rail Maps and Rail Junctions: Update 1.1
Here I have taken advantage of the Google Maps Lite layer editor. You can now have the ability to switch and add layers for better viewing pleasure. For instance, now (for the maps I have edited) you can toggle between modern lines and abandoned lines, or just add them on top of each other like they are now. The option to toggle will be in the left hand menu bar. I will also re-post links with descriptions of what I have done.
Lima, OH Rail Map: https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit? ... vRHy_Qw9Lo
-Now has the ability to toggle on or off different layers. Right now only between modern operations and abandoned lines/locations.
-All modern online business, lines, and junctions are listed to my knowledge, if I have forgotten any, please tell me!
