A lot of what the Toledo Port Authority is doing is "speculation work" . I'd be really surprised if there's been any revenue moves on the track that went in where the old refinery was since it's been put down.

From the Dayton Daily News:

http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/new ... ove/nbtnp/

The $750,000 will be spent on, "Improvements to the rail line include rebuilding the crossing at Little Richmond Road, new crossing signals, and other repairs and enhancements..." It also notes repairs to the Wolf Creek Bridge are planned for 2014.

The article lists three customers: NVR, Inc. (div. of Ryan Homes), Malt Products Corp. (which is expanding) and Syncreon.

I did a little exploring on this line in July 2010, and it appeared that Malt Products was the only active industry, with a number of corn syrup tank cars on both tracks. I couldn't tell if Syncreon was doing anything. Stock Lumber was closed, and this was apparently before NVR purchased the property.

With other Heinz plants in the US and Canada closing, The Fremont Ohio plant is adding workers. The plant is also one of the biggest rail served customers in town.

The Clyde Whirlpool Plant is a rail served customer off the NS Toledo District. It covered hoppers of plastic pellets and boxcars for the Distribution facility adjacent to the plant.

Suppose to be an announcement about something coming to the old GM Moraine plant on Friday, served by NS Dayton Dist.

Per the Columbus Business First it is Fuyao Glass

"New hope at GM plant: A sprawling former General Motors plant outside Dayton is about to get a second life thanks to a manufacturer out of China, the Dayton Business Journal reports. More details are expected to be announced by Gov. John Kasich today, but the project's expected to lead to 800 new jobs at the Moraine facility. The Dayton Daily News identifies the tenant as auto parts maker Fuyao Glass Industry Group's Fuyao North America Inc., which will invest $200 million into the operation – the largest Chinese investment ever in the state, according to JobsOhio."

Wapakoneta was the runner up site for this facility and it would have been a new build. Moraine is a brown field, but, has the buildings in place.

Word from the Western Ohio Rails Yahoo! groups is that glass will arrive from China in sheets, and will be bent into form at the Moraine plant. Honda apparently does this in Bellefontaine, but has no rail access. Of course, articles on this project when it was still called "Project Southbound" mentioned it needed rail access. Raw material (glass sheets) will probably arrive in ocean containers unloaded at Cincinnati or Columbus.

The official announcement was made by CSX after the fourth quarter earnings were reported. North Baltimore will be expanded with two more cranes and several processing tracks added. Work will be completed by early 2015.

This could go either way..They could either close the doors entirely or there is hopefully another manufacturer out there interested in making candles

There's no reason to believe that the new owners are going to close the Leesburg factory.

That's good. Because the Greenfield Subs success depends on businesses like Candlelite.

Also states they got one of competition's sales reps too..... With JRJ's Melvin Stone the G&W lines should see stone traffic growth on both the I&O and OC. Melvin plans on shipping at least one 60 car train of stone per week to Logan beginning this spring.

Goes along with news that G&W was shopping for more coil cars recently for the Ohio Valley region.
