Geez a new company comes in and another closes.. This time in Bowling Green. The manufacturer is Palm Plastics which the article mentioned the operation is leased from Rexam. Now initially i thought this was the place off Dixie Hwy by the railroad tracks which gets rail service, but they are called Southeastern Container. So i went to bing and Palm is on the Northwest side of town off Newton Road.

Now Bowling Green is seeing the plant closing bug.

i hope it's not southeast container, they are a big maker of 20 oz coke plastic bottles, and they do have a rail siding there, always seemed like 4-5 cars everytime i was there to pick up a load

I'm pretty sure its Palm Plastics and speaking of Rexam i wonder if they had both of the buildings that both Palm and Southeast Container occupy today. if so Rexam had quite the operation there in Bowling Green and now there gone. Palm Plastics is located about 2 miles away from the Toledo Branch so they never saw rail service. Your right about Southeastern though, it looks as if they are now the top dog as far as traffic base goes for the railroad in the BG area.

here is some bright and cheery news from the Bellevue Gazette about Tower Automotive.

Now i don't know who it was on here that said Tower was closing in Bellevue, but it sounds like Tower is there to stay.
The frames are shipped out on Norfolk Southern..

Tower changes their mind about staying or leaving all the time. My uncle is a former employee there. 10 years ago they had major layoffs as part of a plan to outsource. Then two years later they hired almost everyone back when they decided to stay. Then, a few years ago they announced they would relocate again, but still have yet to do so.

Yes i thought that was you..The year has started off on a positve note for Bellevue as three area companies are seeing an uptick in business. Along with Tower, Wilbert Plastics and Autoplas are expanding and have hired new people.

Well will see about Tower though.

Supposedly some bright and cheery news for the Bowling Green area and in the wake of some plant shutdowns, some current factories are expanding including CSX customer Lubrizol,
