Hello all, first post here, glad to be a member!
I recently began hosting a live scanner stream of Norfolk Southern radio traffic out of Alliance, Ohio.

My business is right beside the Cleveland East line in Alliance, Ohio and we receive as many as 4 trains an hour or more on our 2 track line.
My scanner is monitoring the usual NS frequencies but the active (and priority channel) is 161.070 MHz where you will hear dispatch, local and mow calls as well as 2 defect detectors.
I am very fortunate (whereas others might consider it a curse) to have my office windows face the track unobstructed, less than 150' away. I get to see it all, and best yet, I am at the end (or beginning) of a long stretch without crossings and right before a crossover switch, so they often sit and wait for a signal with the engine right in front of my building, popping and hissing. It is also a popular crew change location as well.
Enjoy!

Yes, I have been enjoying my stay here very much.
I have already made use of the NS Train Symbols reference Wiki for many of the regulars that pass by my shop. For instance I just watched 60H (according to wiki it's a Gypsum haul) make a stop right at my door today waiting for a signal to go onto the Ft. Wayne line, stop again and back off into a siding about 1 mile down, drop a car, come back onto the Cleveland line, wait for another signal, and continue on east. They were working the area for well over two hours, all within radio range. Quite fun!

Any interest in a rail camera at this location?

I think it would be a great location for a camera.

Welcome aboard!
I’ve been through Alliance a few times in the pitch dark on the Capitol Limited (in pre Floridian times), but I did detour there once for a couple hours of lunchtime railfanning. Sadly it was during a quiet slump and I only saw one train.
Your office location would be north of the diamond? Or east? I know the east west line is the old PRR mainline where the Broadway Limited once ran. Isn’t there a former PRR office or station building in Alliance? I know the current passenger facility a pretty simple unstaffed Amtrak station, but the brick bungalow is at least a couple steps up from a plexiglass bus shelter.
I started a new job several years ago in Lansing Michigan and my desk faced a window that looked out over the CSX Plymouth subdivision maybe 400’ away. It wasn’t busy, but I would see 2-4 trains in an average workday. Then our office moved to a different building….and I was sad!
Thanks for the scanner link!

Yes, north of the diamond. Milepost 68. Basically where Vine St. crosses the mainline. Your train passed right by my office window.
