Stratford Gap Railroad

Unread postby GorbiOak » Fri Mar 10, 2017 11:44 pm

The Stratford Gap Railroad was the brainchild of my grandfather Arthur Hamilton made up back when my father was a kiddo. In my grandfathers mind it was a steam era railroad with a simple diamond logo with the letters "SG" in the middle. Since i learned about the fictional railroad i have taken it under my wing and made it a class 1 railroad running from the Sacramento to Chicago with a bunch of mainlines to various places. The GAP interchanges with the BNSF, UP, CSX, and quite possibly the Carolina Southern. The railroads paint is divided into two divisions. The westend (trackage from the west coast to Denver/Cheyenne) division paint is based off of the old NP scheme of Orange, Black, and Yellow. The eastend paint (Denver/Cheyenne eastward) has a similar setup but the colors are swapped to a Green, Orange, and White scheme.

SECOND SECTIONS

If more than one train is run on a certain schedule in a single day due to heavy traffic it receives
a 2 prefix designating it as a Second Section. For example the 2-ZCSLT-12 would be the
second section of the Z-CSLT-12. The second section of modern freight trains are of course not
governed by timetable operations can run at any time during the day, from a few minutes
behind the first section to many hours behind the first section. The second section can even
precede the first section. It is also possible, but extremely rare, for there to be a third, fourth,
etc section of a certain train symbol, each designated by the proper prefix number.
