The premises for a modern Canada Southern Railway (CSR) comes from a what if, that very nearly became a reality.

In 1985, Centra holdings officially purchases the CSR from Conrail, including both the Niagara River bridge, the Detroit River tunnel, and all motive power assigned to the Canadian division.
5- GP7s #s 5821-5825
10- GP9s # 6030-6040 (6031 destroyed in a grade crossing accident)

Two GP40-2s #s 4120 & 4121, and eight SD40-2s
#s 4000-4007 were purchased to aid the aging GP7s and 9s in addition six SD40-2s #s 4091-4096 were also leased from EMD. Numerous upgrades to the physical plant were carried out in the early months.

That is the general idea of the railway.
I've envisioned many successful expasions over years right up to present day. The present day CSR reaches from Council Bluffs, Iowa in the west to New York, New York in the east and rosters nearly 300 locomotives.

As time goes by and permits, I'll detail the CSR's growth and expansion.
