The old Southern Railway Roundhouse on the Winston Salem K-Line was rebuilt in 2008, and the entire facility was completed in 2010. This location is used for the rebuilding CS 1996 and CS 634, two steam locomotives owned by the Carolina Southern.

K-Line Repair is similar to the PLW, in the exception this facility has steam-servicing features, including two coaling towers, three water towers, two ash dumps, and a roundhouse with a 135-foot turntable.

Currently:

-CS 634 rebuild is 98% complete. She needs road testing and it will be done. Any problems found during testing will be addressed.
-CS 1996 is still undergoing rebuild, because of problems machining parts needed, and trying to find new parts available.

Currently, one GE-44 Tonner is a the shop switcher.

CS 1996 is now under road testing. SR 2-8-0 542 has been transferred from the NC Transportation Museum to the facility to undergo mechanical restoration to operating condition.
