Maryland and Northern Transportation Co.

Unread post by ES44AH »

Created in 1962, the M&NTCo. was Steams last stand. The M&NTCo uses former B&O and WM lines out of Baltimore. The Baltimore Division (B&O Old Main Line and WM East sub), Washington Division (Metropolitan sub and Cumberland sub), Allegheny Division (Keystone sub and WM West/connellsville sub). The M&NTCo runs heavy freights, coal drags, and passenger trains. The roster is extremely diverse, everything from Big articulateds to small yard switchers and everything in between. The M&NTCo also has 6 diesels which are used for backup power.

The updated roster is on page 4.

Welcome to the group. I'm not 100% sure about other's "holdings" in the northeast, but I'm sure someone else can fill that info gap. Unique Railroad for sure. I think most of us own steamers, but they're generally small in number and are the units at represent predessors, such as PM 1223 & 1225 which I have for Marquette.

My steamers are the NYC 3001 4-8-2 and NYC 1894, a 2-8-2 and those will be the only two steamers for my line. What's funny is I created a railroad on actual paper with a no. 2 pencil(yes, when I was in high school I did NOT have a computer) called the Harrisburg, Trenton, New York and Albany or HTNYA&B and it was created as an all steam railroad that continued running steam all the way into the present. Welcome aboard and I look forward to seeing what you will do with this railroad :D

Would you guys be interested in getting Pere Marquette 1223 back into service for us? We've got experienced personnel, but you guys are surely better than everybody else. It has most parts it needs, we just need the inspections/work done. We could ship it to you by the end of the month if you are interested.

The Appalachian Western owns the WM but we could give you trackage rights. Just let us know what parts of the WM you use.

I can assist in making it happen :) It would be routed PC Toledo to Cincinnati, OH where it will be interchanged to the Cumberland Southern(the fictional model railroad system owned by my friend Steve Hood), which reaches Cincinnati on CSX trackage rights out of Knoxville, TN. Once it reaches Knoxville, it would run on the CS over to Cumberland to be interchanged to the MNTC. I have haulage rights on the CS and they have trackage rights on my railroad Cincinnati to Columbus to reach their trackage at Columbus that runs up to Erie, PA(which is the CS' subsidiary Ohio Midland; they also own a line called the Tennessee Eastern). Let me know if you desire to use this routing or not.
