Unread post by TCtrainguy17 »

The Iowa Pacific Railway (or the IPAC) is a subsidiary of the AW that owns what used to be MRL and DM&E track. Trackage rights on BNSF and TSCR's ex OC&M exx DM&E allows entrance to the West coast and Chicago. Purchased from the TSCR, the STB required that it be operated as a separate entity. The AW has plans to invest up to $2 billion into the IPAC. The first investment is to purchase the ex Milwaukee Road Rapid City-Mitchell, SD right of way from the state of South Dakota. All of the existing track will be upgraded and track will be relayed on the 100 plus miles of rail banked ROW. The second investment is to study of purchasing and relaying track on all of the abandoned Milwaukee Road west of Spokane, WA and possibly even St. Paul Pass to bypass Spokane. Merged into AW on April 12, 2013.
