New customer coming online in June, maybe even earlier, depending on some factors...

Going to pick-up 3 more hoppers for the MSRR at Pandora, and meet DCA-22 there as well.

DCA-22, "Restricting, North Delphos"; turning east onto the DERR right now. Another good consist today: ICS 205(SD35-2), TSCR 6348(SD40-2), and BNSF 5036(C44-9W) for power and 69 auto racks...

DVT-22 ran today, came back into Delphos at 1:36pm. DERR 1203, 1204, and 14 cars (10 CHs from D&D, 4 CHs from Hemker).

Busy, busy day for the Delphos and Eastern today. Along with the regular freight and autorack trains, stone and grain trains are out and about as well... Likely will be having a three way meet at Pandora is about an hour. A surprise is out there today, too! Here we go:

DCT-05 working Jenera. The elevator is packed with hoppers today... DERR 1204, 1201, and 1200 with 33 cars (7 CHs for Central Soya, 6 CHs for the MSRR, 5 mty coke hoppers for CSX, 10 hoppers and 3 lime CHs for Rimer, and 2 pellet hoppers from CSP). Gonna make a pickup at Pandora, as well...

DCA-05 is crossing the PC in Delphos. ICS 400 (GP40-2) and ICS 402 (GP40-2) with a looong autorack train for the W&LE.

U100-05 rounding the connection onto the PC Eastern Branch, heading for Toledo. DERR 1300, 1301 (SD18s), 1302, and 1303 (SD35s) with 40 stone loads for the docks.

G101-05, light power, crossing the CSX and DSR at Columbus Grove. MSRR 48 (C636), DERR 1205, DERR 1203, and MSRR 472 (C636), plus caboose #3109 rushing east to pick up a grain train for CSX. The Maumee Southern power was borrowed due to the lack of heavier power in Delphos on our side. Very neat to see the big blue ALCO power, though.

Haven't reported on this one in a while, so here we go... Traffic levels have been rising on the DERR, with stone moving more frequently now with warmer weather, as well as some other commodities. Some new business will be coming online in the next couple months as well.

Advance Drainage Systems in Pandora is getting a spur built into their plant. Progress is going well, with a switch already installed and the route for the spur has been leveled and ballasted. They will be getting inbound plastic pellets when the spur is completed...

DCT-30 crossing the TSCR in Arlington, after making a pick-up east of town. DERR 1300 and 1301 with 35 cars (8 CHs for Central Soya, 4 CHs from Jenera, a tankcar from Arlington, 11 open hoppers and 2 lime CHs for Rimer, 5 mty coke hoppers for CSX, and 4 mty pellet hoppers from CSP) Going to make a pick up in Pandora, from both the elevator and Crop Production Service west of town.

DCA-30 at North Delphos, turning onto DERR rails. KCS 4732 (ES44AC) and ICS 403 (GP40-2) with 45 autoracks.

The spur into the ADS plant in Pandora is almost finished, and shipments will start in June.

A late running DCT-16 approaching Delphos. DERR 1204, 1300, and 1301 with 24 cars (11 CHs for Central Soya, 6 CHs for MSRR, 2 tankcars from Pandora, and 5 pellet hoppers from CSP).

CDA-16 through Pandora. ICS 405 (GP40-2) and ICS 402 (GP40-2) with 40 autoracks from the WLE.

The DERR takeover of the Maumee Southern RR begins tonight at 00:01AM EDT, Monday Morning, with the D&E inheriting all trackage, locomotives, and rolling stock, as well as MSRR's office in Delphos. Operations will remain the same over the first week or so, before we slowly start to change things around. All of the MSRR roster will eventually be repainted into DERRs colors as well, except the former C&O S2s, which will retain their original C&O paint. One of the first changes that will happen is that yard operations in Delphos will be consolidated, with all operations moving to DERRs yard south of town. A few additional tracks will be added to accommodate the additional grain traffic traffic... The yard in Grand Rapids, OH will still be retained for the for the turn freight from Maumee to Delphos.

Train symbols will be kept the same for now, but will eventually be unified in one system or the other. All MSRR employees have the option to stay with us or go elsewhere. As of now, though, all the original MSRR employees appear to be staying.

MSRRs roster moving over to the DERR:

6940, 5773, 4727 (to DERR 2000-2002) - GP40
7738, 9381 (to DERR 990, 991) - S2
485, 567, 884, 9382, 477 (to DERR 2100-2104) - C424
100, 993 (to DERR 1400, 1401) - U30C

On the MSRR side tonight, G002 has already arrived in Maumee, and G001 is about to depart Delphos with MSRR 100 and and MSRR 5773 with 28 grain loads. The 100 has a small banner on the front saying "Last Run of the Independent Maumee Southern". We do have big plans for this line though, as traffic from the ICS railroad picks up this summer, among other things developing.

The Maumee Southern Railroad has officially been folded into the Delphos & Eastern. A meeting was held yesterday to brief the former MSRR employees, as well as DERR's employees, on the details of the takeover and upcoming changes that will be made. Changes that are upcoming include the consolidation of Delphos yard operations and upgrades of the tight curve near the Penn Central diamonds in town, which is restricting our trains to 5mph. New customers will be coming online soon, including a big, new customer coming back online in Delphos. Interchange and possibly even through trains from the ICS Railroad will be coming towards the end of June as well...

MSRR G002 working its way south toward Delphos, just now nearing Waterville. MSRR 5773 (GP40) and MSRR 100 (U30C) and about 50 cars to be shuffled in and out of industries along the way south, as well as 10 CHs for the DERR.

Back on the DERR, both former WM SD35s are in for maintenance at the shops in Delphos. Also there is one of the MSRR Geeps, which is getting some servicing done.

DCT-25 Clear NS diamonds at Bluffton. DERR 1201, 1203, and 1202 with 40 cars (8 CHs from Central Soya, 6 coke loads from CSX in CG, 10 stone loads and 3 lime CHs from Rimer, 8 CHs from the MSRR, 3 pellet hoppers for CSP, and 2 pellet hoppers for ADS in Pandora).

DERR 1301 and 1300 (SD18s), plus 1200 & 1204 (RS3s) are sitting near the north end of the yard in Delphos. They will go out on U100-25, a stone train for Toledo.

Starting on July 18th, the Delphos & Eastern will interchange with the GLCH at Carey, who has purchased the Wheeling & Lake Erie RR. The ICS autorack trains, as well as healthy DERR interchange, should still occur there unless told otherwise...

I&K Distributors in Delphos will begin shipping next week. All of it's 4 track yard will be used, with inbounds coming from Michigan, via the former MSRR, as well as from the east via W&LE (GLCH), as well as outbounds being pumped out for St. Louis and the Eastern seaboard, via the ICS and W&LE RRs. Inbounds will come via boxcar & reefers, and outbounds via reefers only. This is very lucrative business, and will be treated with the highest regard.

DCT-11 at Columbus Grove, working the CSX interchange. DERR 1200, 1201, & 1203 (RS-3s) with a healthy 36 cars (7 mty CHs for Central Soya, 6 CHs for Andersons in Toledo, 2 tankcars of liq. fertilizer from Pandora, 4 CHs of dry fert. from Arlington, 15 stone mtys and 5 lime CH mtys for Rimer, 3 mty pellet hoppers from ADS, and 4 mty pellet hoppers from CSP).

DCA-11 hammering the NS diamonds at Bluffton. MSRR 6940 (GP40) and ICS 1001 (GP38AC) with 40 autoracks.

G002-11 switching in Fort Jennings, heading south to Delphos next. DERR 1400 (patched MSRR U30C) and MSRR 9382 (C424) with a heavy 57 cars (7 CHs for DERR, plus a few more cars to be switched in Delphos and on the way back north).

Y003-11 in Delphos beginning to build up Friday's G001. MSRR 7738 (S2) and DERR 1205 (RS-3) doing the honors.
