The Santa Central Railway was created when the New York Central merged with the ATSF in 1965 to create the country's first truly transcontinental mainline from the southwest to New England via Kansas City, Chicago, Cleveland and Buffalo. They then absorbed Norfolk Southern shortly after the SOU-NW merger in 1982 to reach out to customers in the south.

The only engines the Santa Central has are Dash-8 40C's and B's, painted up in the NYC pattern and warbonnet colors. Their main commodity is wheelchairs from Spencer NC to be distributed to Ashtabula OH and Olathe KS. They also do short distance intermodal service between Sandusky and Bellevue.

The president position over the railroad was recently filled by Carlos Zambrano of the Miami Marlins, who plans to invest his high amounts of incoming revenue from the Major League Baseball Association to build an interchange bridge across Lake Huron to the CP and CN at Lovekin ON CA. This will also include the construction of a new branch line from Batavia NY to the bridge's proposed south end at Kendall NY. The track will be rated for 70mph and there will be three main tracks with center sidings between main one and two, then two and three.

The railroad's official mascot is the Arctic iceberg.

The railroad also has a small lease program, and the SCLX roster consists of former SOU B36-7's without motors to reduce air pollution in order to meet Tier XVII emission standards.

The WSNOK runs from Spencer NC to Olathe KS through Chilly Coffee IL daily on Wednesdays. With parapalegic rates skyrocketing in the midwest, traffic is up and extra sections (WSNOKE) are running regularly sometimes when they have enough Ravenna OH-Ormonde IL long pool crews available. Not to mention the other 87.3 trains a day on average that run through Chelocathul IL a day including Iowa Interstate Lipitor trains utilizing the new connection at the Illinois River over yonder there.
