The Pere Marquette Railroad was formed in 1990. It is not one of the organized paper railroads. It was named after the original PM. It consists of the CSX Saginaw, Detroit, Plymouth, and GR Subs, as well as the Marquette Rail, the JAIL, the MAL from Richmond to Jackson, the NS line from Ypsilanti to Kalamazoo, the LSRC(including the line from Gaylord to Mackinaw City, and the GLC. There is business from ferries at Mackinaw City and Ludington. At Mackinaw City, CN trains come down the line from Trout Lake to St Ignace, which was never removed, and take the cars from the PM to their destination. UP takes the cars from PM that went across the lake from Ludington and takes them to their destination.

The paint scheme the PM has on it's engines is the same that the original PM had on it's engines. The types of engines the PM has are 15 SD40-2's, 15 C40-8's, 4 SD50's, 22 Gensets, 6 GP30's, 4 GP38's, 8 SW9's, and 6 GP35's.

The proposed Flint intermodal terminal looks to be getting closer to becoming a reality. That would mean quite a few intermodal trains on the PMRR Saginaw Subdivision.

The intermodal project in Flint has been approved! PMRR will be building the tracks into the terminal. It should be finished around mid summer.
