Good, that changes a lot of things then. First off I can rebuild the entire Eastern Branch all the way into Stanley yard now. I also just realized something after looking at my SPV map of Toledo, that my Lime City yard actually sits south of Stanley and that I can tie it into the Eastern Branch, giving me a direct connection to my yard that I can control. I still have other plans to get into Toledo besides this one, but I can only rebuild one abandoned ROW at a time

The eastern branch is the ROW that runs close to the C&O right?

The Eastern Branch was the line that ran south straight out of Stanley yard down thru Fostoria and yes, it does run near the C&O line. It used to go all the way down thru Bucyrus, but the real PC abandoned the portion from Spore to Berwick, OH, so then they used another ex NYC line that crossed it at Berwick and ran south on it thru Forest, OH all the way to Kenton, OH. That particular line used to run from Bellefontaine to Sandusky back in NYC days. The real Eastern Branch was abandoned shortly after the beginning of Conrail in 1976 or 1977, so its been abandoned for a long time now in real life.

DT&I, while you're virtual railfanning my railroad, try recreating this scene I found today, thought it was pretty cool:

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 018&nseq=5

That's Cold Springs Tower, just west of Springfield and only 8 miles from Fairborn where I live now. Its located along my ex NYC mainline to Dayton and Cincinnati and also where the Springfield branch veres off to head toward Indianapolis.

Reports out of the Chicago say that the South Chicago Bridge(NS CP509/PC River Branch Jct) is stuck in the open position and crews have been scrambled to effect repairs immediately. The Amtraks are going to detour across the EC Connecting Line to PC's 59th Street yard, then down the PC Columbus to Chicago mainline to Dolton where it will get onto the CSX(B&OCT) line and take it to Clarke Jct to get back on the Ft. Wayne line. All intermodals are expected to take this detour route as well, no word yet on if the freight detours will use it, although one possible alternative routing is to use the EC connecting line to 59th Street yard and down the Columbus to Chicago mainline to North Judson, where they would connect to the Kankakee Branch and head up to Hamlet where they would get back onto the Fort Wayne line. NS spokesman Rudy Husband said that NS is waiting on word on how long the bridge is going to be out before planning any detours. A Penn Central spokesperson said that as soon as the crews figure out what went wrong and how to fix it, they'll be able to give an estimate on how long the bridge will be out.

UPDATE to the South Chicago Bridge story: Crews have diagnosed the problem, a couple of the motors shorted out. Since those motors are over 30 years old(having been replaced when the bridge failed in 1981), they are going to replace them with brand new motors and inspect everything to make sure that its in good working order. Work will take place thru the night and the earliest estimate they gave to getting everything done is noon tomorrow. NS is now working with the IHB to arrange reroutes on their mainline over to Gibson, where they would then get onto the Porter Branch and head up to Porter to regain NS rails again. PC is allowing Amtrak to detour 30 and 48 tonight over the same route that the other Amtrak's are using, except that those two will continue to Pine to get back onto the Chicago Line.

UPDATE #2 on the South Chicago Bridge: Crews have been making good progress and expect to wrap up repairs by 2pm today. PC has been detouring as much as possible, including Amtraks, to get around the open bridge. NS continues to detour all of its intermodals and a few time sensitive freights as they are simply holding freight traffic in Elkhart and Chicago until the bridge gets repaired. Will update again once the bridge is repaired and the mainlines are back in service.

The circus train was put back together this morning by the WLDY local crew who picked up the flatcars from Fairborn and then went to Springfield and grabbed the coaches off the DT&C interchange and then put the whole train in the siding at CP Brooks. Power was the two C636E's that brought the train to Fairborn. The CIR-501 departed CP Brooks at 1030am and is headed to Columbus, where it will cut off the PC power and NS power couple on to take the train to its next destination, which is Albany, NY.

FINAL UPDATE: The South Chicago Bridge is repaired and back to normal as of 1:30pm. PC and NS trains are going to resume their normal routings but since the line is so backed up from all the detours caused by the bridge being broken, its going to be pretty busy up there for a while until the backlog clears up a bit. PC may still run a few of the more important trains via the detour route just to get them around the congestion.

Starting tomorrow, PC is going to station its two recently acquired ex MQT GP38M-2's, PC 7982-7983, in Auburn, IN this week to handle the TSD-1/SDT-1 steel coil trains. Both engines were patched for PC, with the new number and logos put on it last weekend. These two will get a full repaint as time and paint shop space allows.

Those units were painted in that gray the LSRC currently has on 1179, 1172....only had an MQT patch

Nevermind I forgot MQT owns the LSRC. But The TSCR plans to sell the Ex-GR&P, Exx-PC SW9 and SW7's to LTEX.
