Sounds good, we'll send someone down to sign the papers.

The ex-BSRR locomotives are officially yours. They're currently sitting at the Amtrak station in Birmingham if you wanna pick them up or we can send them to you if you pay for crews and fuel.

Yet another locomotive purchase has been made. 23 GP40PH-2B's and 12 U34CH's have been bought from New Jersey Transit. After all of the locomotives have been round up, they'll be transferred to the DR&EC and should arrive Saturday.

Also, the commuter list has been updated, and now includes the frequency per day these trains run.

The arrival of the locomotives purchased from NJT has been delayed for quite some time. The extreme weather in the area the past few days has been wreaking havoc on the railroads. Fallen trees and other obstructions have prevented the units from being moved to the DR&EC. The new estimated arrival date is July 24th.

All of the locomotives purchased from NJT have arrived at the Brownstown shops. All 12 U34CH's purchased will be used for frieght service, but can substitute for a commuter train. All of the GP40PH-2B's will be used strictly for commuter service.

The DR&EC is also working with Nippon Sharyo USA to purchase cars for the commuter service.

Commuter car purchases have been made today from Nippon Sharyo USA. 3 single level cars (2 coach, 1 cab. http://www.nipponsharyousa.com/products ... pc2002.htm) and 3 double level cars (2 coach, 1 cab. http://www.nipponsharyousa.com/products ... pc2002.htm) were bought.

Only a few of each were bought for testing. How much we like each one will determine how much of each we buy. Testing will be done August 4th (single level) and August 5th (double level). DR&EC management personnel will be the only passengers riding on these test runs. They will aide in determining how much of each to buy. The test runs will be done on the Detroit-Jackson line.

And for all railfans out there, these test runs will be done with a GP40PH-2B still in New Jersey Transit paint with a DR&EC reporting mark.

Great news: Nippon Sharyo has found extra, already-built cars lying around their shop. They are all the cars we need (3 single level, 3 double level), which will allow us to begin testing much earlier. The cars are already being delivered from their Rochelle, IL shop. As of now, testing will be done July 29th (single level) and July 30th (double level). This allows us to place car orders much earlier than already planned.

They'll be stored at the Livonia yard. This is where passenger trains not in use will be stored/staged once the system begins :)

The commuter test run planned for yesterday was delayed until today due to several of the management personnel not making it into Metro airport on time. The train left Detroit today at about 2:00 p.m. It is now passing Wayne and should arrive back to Detroit soon. Tomorrow's train (double level cars) should depart Detroit at about 2:00 p.m., arrive at Jackson a little after 3:00, and arrive back at Detroit around 4:30.

Today's test run went very smoothly and just as planned. The management personnel were extremely pleased with the single level cars. They ran smoothly and quietly. It is safe to say we will be ordering many of these cars.

Tomorrow's test run will determine how many double level cars we buy.

Second test run went just as smooth as yesterday's. Personnel were very pleased with the double level cars, just as they were with the single level cars. It is also safe to say we will order many of these cars. These cars will be used on the heavily populated routes, while the single level's will be used on the low and medium ridership routes.

Work on the Detroit Commuter Station began Monday. The DR&EC is working closely with the AA on building the tracks and stations. Crews began tearing up Bush street for street running Monday. So far the crews are making great time.

Orders for passenger cars have finally been placed earlier today. All cars are from Nippon Sharyo USA, and are a mix of single and double level cars. The commuter list below represents how many cars are needed for each route. Numbers in a { } are double level while numbers in [ ] are single level. The numbers represent the number of cars are needed for each train (i.e. the Toledo-Detroit route has 4 trains per day, and 16 cars are needed for the route, making each train 4 cars long.)

Only even numbered trains have car amounts because the return trips use the same set of locomotives/cars as the trip getting there does.

T Series:  Commuter (# in parenthesis is frequency per day)

T430 (3) Brownstown-Taylor-Allen Park-Detroit [9]

Well, life has since caught up, and I haven't had much time to update my railroad (pretty evident since the last post was
in September). I've also sort of lost interest in the paper railroad business, which is why I'll be "selling" off my railroad. While you're railroads won't actually be bidding, just pretend you are so one railroad doesn't get everything  So just post here what your railroad would like to acquire, so other users can see what has been taken.

Here is the latest updated track map (I'm not sure if anything has been sold off during my absence, so some lines may already be taken). Lines owned are solid lines while trackage rights are dashed.

Locomotives are also "for sale". Here is our most updated locomotive roster:

The number in parenthesis is the amount of those engines we own, and the other set of numbers are locomotive numbers.

MQTX wants all your SD40-2s and GP40-2s.

A note non-specific to MQTX or MQT, the only line from the DR&EC open now is the JAIL between Jackson and Lansing. All others have been claimed. I for one would like to apologize for that, I forgot about the DREC during some recent dealings.
