DR&EC

The Downriver and Essex County Railroad, or DR&EC, is a railroad serving various areas throughout Michigan and Canada. Formed in 1992, the DR&EC flourished for more than ten years, before taking a hard hit from the economic slump a few years back. They are on a relatively tight budget, and have laid off a few workers and have sold a couple of engines in the past few years.
The DR&EC serves the Southeast and Mid-Michigan areas, along with Essex County in Canada, hence the name. They have a decent amount of track of their own, but rely on trackage rights on various Class I railroads as well. The DR&EC is a Class II railroad, and at one point, was on the verge of being demoted to a Class III, but has since redeemed itself.

The main trains consist of Auto Racks, Grain locals, manifests, and few coal locals. The coal locals are mainly taking loaded cars from a BNSF drop off point to the Trenton DTE Power Plant and taking the empties back to the drop off point, while the rest are short locals. The Auto Rack trains consist of taking auto racks from the Flat Rock Mustang and Mazda plant (loaded with Mustangs and Mazdas) to various yards for exportation across the country on other railroads. The same goes for the Grain locals. The DR&EC takes loaded grain hoppers from local plants and delivers them to various yards to be exported.

Here is an update track map for the DR&EC. Dashed lines are rights and solid lines are tracks we own. We've acquired the Detroit-Port Huron line, the Detroit-Jackson line, and the Jackson-Lansing line.

dosn't really matter, but you may as well cancel your trackage rights on the MQT becuase it would be redundant and I take all freight rights....you were using it to reach Lansing....

If you mean the line from Lansing to Detroit, I have rights for quicker access to Canada from Lansing and Dansville (the little part we own coming off the Jackson-Lansing line).

On another note, the rail at the Flat Rock yard was replaced and unit 110 was re-railed by 4:30 this afternoon. Yard operations are back to normal.

Get your cameras ready! X300 (loaded windmill train) is leaving Toledo with Canadian Pacific AC4400 9502 and DR&EC SD40-2 147, with 6 windmill blades. The train will sit in the Detroit yard overnight and depart for Windsor around 10:00 am. The blades will then be loaded onto trucks at Windsor, and unloaded at the Essex County Wind Farm.
