Good idea... But this happened on the mainline. It would cost alot to fence the entire mainline :D

Well were protecting from vandalism to the best extent, we have the best record of all class ones about not letting railcars get graffitied. But this is a weird circumstance lol.

I don't really care about graffiti as long as it dosn't harm the railcar or have any bad language on it...free paint :D

Well we have to keep the numbers and reporting marks visible so why not just keep them from doing it?

All of our cars are in the process of being imbedded with an RFID chip...we have readers installed trackside, and our local crews have readers what can read the chips if need be.

SD40-3W - 199 is finished! Except for the paint, which will be applied when you find a scheme.

The recently purchased locomotives from the Penn Central were picked up from the PC Jackson yard today and taken to the Brownstown Shop. The locomotives will be renumbered and given a DR&EC reporting mark until they are able to be painted. The numbers will be as follow:

10 SD40-2's 203-212
6 GP30's 213-218
5 U23B's 219-223
2 RS3's 224-225

The locomotive list has been updated with the latest purchases.

The undamaged track to Port Huron was cleared around 4:00 Tuesday morning. Crews worked throughout the night to get trains rolling again. The damaged track has since been cleared and track crews are repairing track at this time. Several damaged grain cars are still lying alongside the tracks, while the rest, including the locomotive have been towed away. 151 was towed to the Brownstown shop and is being repaired. The rest of the undamaged and slightly damaged grain cars are sitting in the Detroit yard.

We're going to make a change to the your SD40-3W's before we send them up, we have a new study which shows a better air ventilation system.

Rumors have been circulating through the DR&EC employees that the company is looking into starting a commuter service for the Metro-Detroit area. This has not been confirmed.

The rumors have not yet been confirmed, but if they are true, it will be the Metro Detroit area (Wayne/Monroe counties), Detroit, and possibly as far west as Jackson and Lansing. It may also go up to Port Huron, as well as into Canada, and a slight chance of going south to Toledo.

The rumors have been confirmed. The DR&EC will begin a project of running a commuter system for Southeast Michigan. Lines have not yet been confirmed, as this will be am extensive project. It is unknown when the trains will begin running. Locomotives and cars must be ordered, schedules adjusted, and track may need to be laid. The project is in the beginning stages and is a "rough sketch" so far.

Routes for the new commuter system are being set up at this time. Population density sheets of Southeast Michigan are being observed to determine what areas need to be served and what areas need to be served more than others. Equipment needed will be determined after routes are set up so we know how much locos and cars will be necessary.

MQT is thinking of selling a few GP35s, you might be able to have them. Let me know how many you will need when you know.

Cool, thanks. We were planning on buying some inactive P42's and F40's from Amtrak, but there most likely will not be enough available, so we may take you up on that offer :)
