YpsiAmtrakBoy wrote:Today it was announced that the AA will be borrowing all of Agawa canyon railways coaches for the Christmas trains from Toledo to mackinaw. We will also be leasing 6 viewliners, and 6 other sleeping cars to be used on the test trains, in addition to the viewliners we are also leasing 20 auto train auto racks from Amtrak.

It has been decided that we will run 2 trains a day each way, one leaving in the morning, and one leaving late at night. The over night one will have 6 sleepers and the over night auto racks for cars. We will be using one of Toledo union stations stub platforms as a makeshift area for the ramp. The train with auto racks and sleepers will go overnight leaving Toledo and mackinaw at 11pm. The day train will leave Toledo and mackinaw with no auto racks or sleepers at 8am. More info to follow this release, like compleat timetables and what not.
What's the routing on those cars from Agawa? Via CN in the UP to your ferries? Via Ontario and through the Detroit tunnel?

You mind if MQT throws in a holiday employee special the weekend before Christmas? MQT power with MQT cars, all we'd need are pilots (or just full crews). We'd use our Mackinac Sub up to the connection, then run up to Mackinac on Saturday, stay overnight, then head back south the same way.

Next year, we're hoping to have PM 1225 ready for these trains. And in the future, maybe 1223 too :D

You could operate commuter trains in a triangle pattern of AA/TOL/DET and vice versa. Use the TSCR or something to get from TOL to DET, and we at MQT might open up access to the Plymouth Sub.

The AA/HCE christmas train is set to make 3 runs this holiday season, it will run on December 8th, 15th, and 22nd. The train will start out in the morning at the Ypsilanti MC Depot then head down the AA's Pittsfield branch to Saline for its second stop. Third stop will be in Mansfield on the HCE, the train will then head south to Toledo for the third stop of the day. After Toledo the train is to head north for its final stop in Ann Arbor out side of Michigan Stadium in ferry yard where it will meet many childern from motts childern hospital where santa will pass out gifts and hot chocolate. The train will leave Ypsilanti no later then 9 am and arrive at Ann Arbor no later then 5 pm. The trais is given no real time table because it will be staying at its stops depending on how many people show up, there will be estimated times given to event cordinators in each city the day before and during the trips

actually its not overpowered (for what normally uses 8500 hp for  ) no but that train only has 4300 hp powering it. normally amtrak will only have one p42 working per wolverine, and the other is just riding along, so the 5-7 car train is using 4200 hp and head end from one engine. in this situation the Ace is providing its 4300 hp to power the train, the p42 trailing it is dead in tow, and the rear p42 is providing head end power. tommorow the train will just be using the power of the good p42 and the ace will be in tow... just some info about my train

the bad p42 has been taken off the train, and it has been turned and ready to go in the morning as 351. the AA 107 will be dropped off at the AA station then picked up by the ferry yard yard switcher in the morning.

its dark in PNT
