There will be some windmill trains running from Saginaw to a spot just west of Bad Axe on Thomas Road. There is a temporary unloading facility for the windmills.

S104 collided with a gasoline truck in Montrose earlier at around 9:10am. Apparently, the truck broke down on the tracks just when the train was entering town. The driver was able to escape before the train hit. The train hit the truck, and the impact somehow damaged the tracks, causing the train, traveling at approximately 55mph, to derail. 27 cars on S104 derailed. After the wreck, the gasoline in the truck ignited, and a large explosion occurred. The train crew miraculously survived with only minor injuries. The power on the train were two ES44AC's and 71 cars. The cars that derailed are the following: 12 liquid petroleum tanker cars, 2 lumber centerbeams, 8 plastic pellet covered hoppers, and 7 auto parts boxcars. All GR&P trains are waiting for the tracks to be cleared.

Montrose is on your new main right?

If you need to, we can take about 10 hotshot trains on the GR sub if need be....

No, Montrose is between Durand and Saginaw. But that reroute offer brings up a question. Could the GR&P run it's trains that go to Saginaw from Toledo and points south on your line between Toledo and Saginaw? It will be a little while until the line is clear.

UPDATE

Fire is still burning. Apparently soon after the wreck, the fire spread to some of the petroleum cars. Everyone is keeping their distance from the train, fearing another large explosion.

How Many? That line is obviously NOT double tracked....

MQT will be sending our Saginaw Fire & Emergancy Response crew up the GR&P to help fight the fire ETA 15 minutes

The train consists of 5 50ft tankers that are always full of water, and 4 repurposed fire trucks on flat cars. They will definatly be a great aid in putting out the fire. The emergancy response crew is also driving out there to assist.

Also, GR&P will be allowed up to 20 SLots for trains on the Saginaw Sub between Now and 6am

two of the fire trucks are online, spraying water on the site from the top of their now automatic water/foam nazzles atop the ladder. The other two will be moved to the other end of the wreck site, ETA 20 minutes. Also, we have two trains of 5 tankers each of FOAM (gathered up following PM 1225's last run), already nearing Plymouth from their station in Rougemere Yard. One to each end of the wreck site.

Is that enough foam atrain?

Thank you VERY much, MQT! Yes, that foam should be plenty, LOL. With that much foam, the fire should be stopped in no time! :D

How is the fire coming along? We will have to send more FOAM soon because they will be running out if the fire isn't out yet...

The fire is just about under control. The foam you sent over has been of great help. I'm hoping the line will be open sometime during Sunday or Monday. If you ever need help with a derailment or something, I'll be glad to help you out with extra foam gathered from the NKP 765 replica's excursions, reroutes, help with track work, ect.

The Fire trains are returning to Detroit to be refilled. This was their first big incident they went through, and the worked with flying colors. MQT will be building another set for Wyoming.

The GR&P officially owns the CSX line from Sarnia to Chatham. This means that GR&P operates in 6 states, and two countries.

GR&P train S129 is preparing to leave Toledo with a ex IC, ex WC, a BN, an ATSF red and silver warbonnet, an ATSF blue and yellow warbonnet, a CN, a SOO, a CP, two CSX's, a NS, a KCS, the PM Heitage engine, a Conrail, a GTW, a EJE, a BCOL, a UP, a GR&P, a SP, the WS Heritage engine, and EMD 2012 with 198 cars. 22 engines. The reason for the long train was a bunch of stored autoracks and well cars that were being stored in Saginaw that were moved down to Toledo to get to Queensgate Yard. CSX and towns have been notified of the huge train, which would have been only 87 cars long if not for the storage. As for the locomotive consist, that was half because of the long train and half just for the heck of it. The train will be leaving Walbridge at 1:00pm.
