NYCW Plans

After talking with some NYCW officials, it sounds like most of the searchlight signals on the North Platte District are coming down soon. An estimated time frame would be December 2011 to July 2012. More Safetran hooded signals will replace them.

It does sound like the NYCW will acquire the MILB(Milwaukee Belt Railroad). The MILB has 23 miles of track the circles downtown Milwaukee serving about 30 customers. This line would be valuable to the NYCW and they would get:
4 SW1500's
5 GP40's
3 B32-7's
More later.

In order to help pay for the MILB, NYCW has agreed to sell 4 U23B's to HLCX. These will be delivered sometime in early March of 2012. The soon to be former MILB units will be repainted and upgraded. CP also will be buying 50% of the MILB which means interchange traffic and trackage rights. CP will be getting the north half of the line and NYCW will get the south half. CP will have trackage rights over the south half to Bay View Yard and NYCW will have trackage rights over the north half to Galesburg Yard. CP will run an estimated two locals a day(north half only) and one train that originates in Vancouver and terminates in Jacksonville, Florida. NYCW will run three locals a day and one train from Chicago to Vancouver. The MILB is dark territory and signals will be placed at the following points:
MP 0.1 Bay View Yard Gate
MP 5.9 Intermediate
MP 11.5 **End NYCW Bay District Begin CP Belt Sub.**
MP 13.2 South Siding Switch Westboro
MP 14.7 North Siding Switch Bennett
MP 17.9 KO Tower
MP 18.0 KO Tower
MP 20.0 Intermediate
MP 23.0 Galesburg Yard Gate
