CSX Mansfield Subdivision

Unread post by Y@ »

The CSX Mansfield Sub is the (fictional) former C&O between Powell and Rochester, OH.

The line splits from the Columbus Sub at PW Cabin (milepost 15 on the Columbus Sub) and runs 98 miles to Rochester where it connects to the former NYC at RS Tower. Prior to the start of CSX, the C&O had trackage rights into Cleveland via the NYC to reach Collinwood Yard. This agreement continued through the days of Penn Central and early Conrail, along with the Chessie System days and the beginning of CSX. In March 1990, the agreement was voided and the line was placed out of service between Mansfield and Rochester. Operations of the line varied until the Conrail split, when CSX took over the former NYC. Throughout 1999 and 2000, work was done to place the line back in service between Mansfield and Rochester, along with other track work projects to get the entire line up to at least 40 mph.

In October 2000, with all work complete, CSX began running trains over the line again. Today, operation remains mostly the same. C&O signals still control most of the line. Below is a chart of the line from Rochester to Powell, along with other details. A star denotes a replaced signal.
