A little history on the Adrian Napoleon & Malinta.

Timeline:

Assumed operations over the former DT&I to Tecumseh-1999

Five GP9R's are purchase from the GTW-1999

Eleven GP38-2's are purchased from Union Pacific and are saved from the scrapper's torch-2000

The AN&M acquires trackage rights over the IORY to Lima to interchange with CSX/CF&E-2000

Four ex-Conrail C40-8W's are purchased from CSX-2001

Line is extended to Adrian-2001

All of the former UP GP38's are upgraded to GP38-3's-2002

AN&M acquires trackage rights over the MAW to Defiance(CSX interchange)-2002

A major derailment on the MAW requires two GP9R's to be scrapped(590,692)-2004

Five C40-8C's are purchased from CSX-2005

Thirteen SD45's are acquired from BNSF-2005

Three of the SD45's are upgraded to SD45-3's-2005

Fourteen low nosed SD40-2's and four GP40X's are purchased from Norfolk Southern-2008

New engine house and yard are built north of Malinta-2010

Future: MAW is acquired by AN&M-July 4th, 2011, major trackwork begins immediatly.

Tomorrow at exactly 12 noon the MAW will hand over operations to the AN&M, all units except MAW 16 will be sent away for scrap. Already track equipment is sitting in the siding outside Napoleon and will be put into service immediatly at 12.Train ADNAWR(Adrian to Napoleon, welded rail train) is all ready to go with 3 C40-8C's numbers 9001,9002, and 9003. GP38-3 numbered 9999 will take a train of four 75 ft. autoparts boxcars down to Napoleon with all new NS style Safetran signals in them.

Train locations:

Train IORYAB is getting ready to leave North Malinta yard, units are AN&M 9141, 4407, and 9030. 133 car loaded manifest, mostly coils.

Train MADEC-2 is coming around the northwestern wye in Napoleon with 71 cars, mixed manifest, leading units are 33, 4401, 334, and 711.

Train ADCFE is in the siding north of Napoleon waiting for MADEC-2, 89 Crestline bound autoracks, units are 7150, 6408, 336.

Where are the 71 cars on MADEC going?

Where are the coils going?

Where are the 71 cars on MADEC going?
O the coils are for Detriot, they get on to the A&B at Adrian, the whole train does actually.

MADEC-2 is going to be classified at Adrian then put into different trains going to many destinations.

Train locations:

STSMoW-In the siding north of Napoleon. GP38-3 #9999 is idling with 4 cars, it will wait until all trackwork is finished to bring in the new signals.

ADNAWR-On the northwest wye at Napoleon. Most of the old MAW rail has already been ripped out. the mound that was the RoW has been flattened for new ballast. The old diamond is gone already. Units are 9001, 9002, and 9003, all C40-8C's.

MANABA-Malinta to Napoleon ballast is in the siding south of Napoleon with 69 cars. Units are 4410(SD40-2), 335(SD45), and 4197(GP38-3).

Train POLEAD-1IO is slowly going over where the diamond was in Napoleon. Units are 4400(SD40-2) with 14 cars.

ADCFE is in North Malinta yard waiting for I&O train 403 to clear. Units are 711(C40-8W), 7150(C40-8W), and 9030(C40-8W). 97 cars, mixed manifest.

Train MADEC-1 is waiting 1000 yds behind POLEAD-1IO on track 2 waiting for the welded rail train to finish work. 88 cars, autoracks for CSX.

SD40-2 No. 9002 has been renumbered to 542.

An I&O train carrying automobiles slammed into the side of ADCFE this morning derailing 14 hoppers. The cause has not yet been determined. The I&O southbound was traveling about 25 mph when it hit the side of a AN&M train. Investigators think a signal was not functioning properly.

The AN&M will be acquiring 2 SW1500's from TSt.L on a short term lease.

Most of the trackwork has been finished around MN tower(Napoleon, junction between the former MAW and AN&M)
Most trains will be detoured over CSX at Hamler.

Track speed ariund Napoleon is now up to 45 mph.

Train locations:

MADA is rolling through Napoleon at 45 mph northbound, units are 9999(GP38-3), and 4406(SD40-2).

MADEC-1, running late is waiting at Napoleon for MADA to clear. Units are 330(SD45-3),331(SD45-3), and 4413(SD40-2).

ABIORY is interchanging with the I&O at Malinta. Units are 5063(SW1500, leased). Units that took the train down from Adrian are being seviced.

Train locations:

POLEAD-1IO is currently in Leipsic waiting for a northboud I&O. Unit is 90(GP9R). With 9 ethanol hoppers.

CASO-1 is in Napoleon right now waiting for the diamond to clear up. Unit is 39(GP40X) with 4 tanks.

Train DS-1(new) is flying across the diamond at 50 mph at Napoleon, the first train to go from Defiance to Maumee. Units 7150, 6408, 9030, and 711 are leading a 91 car intermodal bound for Detroit.

ADCFE is waiting in the siding north of Napoleon, a 62 car manifest lead by 542(SD40-2) and 333(SD45-3).

ADMA is waiting on the main south of Napoleon with 90 cars, manifest, 9001(C40-8C), 334(SD45), 920(GP38-3), and 4407(SD40-2).

DS-3X is flying through Jewell at 65 mph, units are 711(C40-8W), and 4409(SD40-2), 90 cars.

ADCFE is heading back from Lima with 50 auto racks, the train will be tied down in Malinta to wait for a new crew.
At Leipsic, units are 4400(SD40-2), 335(SD45), 9030(C40-8W), and 7150(C40-8W).

MANAT is sitting at Napoleon waiting for DS-3X to go north. 9002(C40-8C) and 542(SD40-2). 25 ethanol filled tanks, 1 hopper.

ABIORY is crossing the diamont north of Seneca, Mi. This area is dark territory due to the AN&M using the ex-Cincinnatti NOrthern for storage. 9999(GP38-3) leading 45 empty hoppers.

The AN&M recently purchased two F7A's, two F7B's, one E8A, and two E8B's. these will be working on passenger trains in between Toledo and Detroit. All ex-MAW geeps have been sent away for scrap. 32 grain hoppers have been purchased and will be numbered 10075-10107. Plans for doubletracking the MAW District will be put on hold until 2019 when the AN&M has a good cushion of savings built up. A rumor has been floating around that new ES44DC's will be purchased, those rumor are incorrect...for now at least. Another rumor, unit 344 will be exchanged for BNSF 9220(SD60M), these are true. BNSF will be receiving one SD45-3, upgraded HP to about the same as an SD60M.
Also look for two ex-CR(NS) SD70M's on the system working out of North Malinta Yard to Smith Yard, These are being used on the (new) trains: (DS-1, IN-55, IN-495, DS-3)intermodal, (100, 400, 596, and 820)coal.
And for all you Conrail fans SD40-2 #542 is going to be painted in blue, CR Quality logo. GP38-3 #9999 is up for repaint. We are taking suggestions so don't forget to voice your ideas!

Well with lines to Detroit and Toledo now we can run intermodal trains plus we can also bring coal off CSX. Detroit is a major city and having access to the lake and many customers helps buisiness, the ES44DC's will have to wait becuase remeber, we still are a class 2. :wink:

A merger has been proposed. The failing I&O needs to find a parter to keeps it afloat. The AN&M is taking interest. A line to Cincinnatti would mean less traffic for CSX and more money for the AN&M. An estimated 20 more trains might be put into service becuase of this. New names have been floating around but one has not been selected, a few are: Detroit, Toledo & Cincinnatti(DT&C), Cincinnatti, Columbus, Toledo & Detroit(CCT&D), Michigan, Ohio & Indiana(MO&I), and Detroit & Toledo Southern(D&TS). If the Ann Arbor excepts the idea we could see about 10 more auto trains. The CF&E might also be interested, we might see something like the "small four". Traffic from Chicago could see about 20 more intermodals and maybe being double tracked. Also CIND might be a caandidate but less likely, if acquired they are most likely to be abandoned and removed.

I merger agreement has been reached. The AN&M, I&O, AA, and CF&E will merge. No one knows when though. Some think late December, others think November. A name has been chosen, Michigan Ohio & Indiana. All leasers will be stationed out of Chicago. CEFX 9500 will be in Toledo for viewing becuase of its SP heritage on the 25th.

Changes due to the merger, the ex-Cincy Northern track will be removed, it was being used for autorack storage. Now that we have the soon to be ex-I&O track to Cincinnatti more autoracks will be needed. More later.

The Detroit Line will become the Detroit Secondary because of the I&O merger. Most traffic will be route over the Cincinnatti Division. The line to Adrian will still be used but on a much more regular basis, a yard will be constructed there and will be used for ADBL traffic. The former Ohio Central tracks will be inclded in the merger. OC engines will be shipped to the G&W.

Ann Arbor RR will be used less now that the merger is planned. The AA scheeme is being considered for the locos, only if the name becomes the DT&C. They say it just fits the scheme better. The diamond over the AN&M's Adrian Line that extends for 50 feet more on the west side will be removed. As will the Southwest wye. The Southeast wye will be the track that goes all the way to Detroit. The Cincy Northern storage track has been cleared and is being removed currently.
