OHNR Cleveland Divison

Unread post by Y@ »

Another part of the OHNR in Ohio is the Cleveland Division. This includes the Toledo Secondary, which includes all track between CP Broadway to Millbury, OH, the Fremont District which is the former NYC from Millbury to Fremont, the Shiloh District between Clyde and Ashland, and the Medina District between Ashland and CP Strongsville in Cleveland.

The Toledo Secondary runs from the east end of Broadway Yard at the Broadway Street interlocking with CSX's Toledo Subdivision, crosses over all tracks north of WR Tower on elevated track, splits Walbridge in half when running along Red Creek in town, then curves southeast towards Millbury where the former NYC starts.

The Fremont District begins at CP Millbury, runs through Genoa, Elmore, Lindsey, and into Fremont. The line crosses the former LE&W that NS uses to serve Heinz and a few other local industries. Interchange is done here via the connection track in the southeast quadrant of the diamond. This location is known as CP Erie. On the east side of town, the Fremont District joins with Norfolk Southern's Toledo District for the trip to Clyde.

OHNR uses trackage rights on Norfolk Southern's Toledo District between CP Hayes in Fremont (also known as the NYC Connection) and CP Clyde. From there, the Shiloh District begins, running east through Flat Rock, Reedtown, Willard, Plymouth, Shiloh and Ashland. The Shiloh District ends at AD Tower in Ashland where the Medina District crosses the Shiloh District. East of Ashland, the line is the Canton District.

The Medina District is part of the original Ohio Northern, running between Cleveland and Columbus. The Medina District begins at Strongsville and runs south through Brunswick, Medina, Lafayette, Lodi, West Salem, Ashland, and Mansfield. South of Mansfield, the line is the Columbus District.

More information on the individual districts will follow. First up is the Toledo Secondary and Fremont District.
