Due to some contractual happenings and issues between the IORY and CSXT, it appears that the Fort Wayne line (formerly the CF&E between Lima and Chicago) will return to CSX operation very soon, possibly within the week. No official date has yet been reached, but one thing is clear, CSX will once again be running the Fort Wayne line.
Speculation abounds, but this is a basic outline of the operation plans. Sounds like the freights that were once regulars on the line will return in the form of Q356 and Q357. Word has also come down that freights Q387 and Q388 will also move to the Fort Wayne line on a routing that will see them traveling via Willard/Fostoria/Upper Sandusky/Dunkirk and on to Lima before hitting the Fort Wayne line. The line also sees frequent grain trains, sometimes as many as 5 a week.
As of now, the plan is for the IORY to continue operating the line between Lima and Crestline with CSX having trackage rights. West of Lima, it's all CSX. A map with most towns pinpointed will be up shortly.

Re: Issues arising on the IORY
Yeah, it does kind of suck Don, but at the same time this line was actually much cooler back when CSX ran it. Q356 and Q357 frequently got some really wild lashups of power. Aaron has slides from when he lived in the area of the trains running with Wisconsin Central power, CSX slug sets, BNSF SD40-2's, and some other stuff. It's not likely we'll see a lot of that now, but hopefully the tradition of putting whatever power is available on the trains will continue.

Re: Issues arising on the IORY
This is happening pretty fast, as today is the end of IORY operations between Lima and Chicago. CSX operations will re-commence tomorrow.

What connection do you have with Chicago? Access to the western lines without going through another Class 1 is a key to getting good rates for your customers.Y@ wrote:This is happening pretty fast, as today is the end of IORY operations between Lima and Chicago. Re: Issues arising on the IORY
The BGS route into Chicago is now the only connection with the western roads, aside from overhead traffic from St. Louis.
