Never heard about the 4082, 4083 or 4084 getting new paint, but here they are sporting the old IORY colors. Nice move by the new ownership to bring those paintschemes back!

They look good Y@! One of the rare paint schemes not composed of dark colors that I find attractive :)

Talked to one of the IORY trainmaster's today and when I asked him about UP power coming on to the system he said that wasn't happening. They've had no contact with UP about any lease power. He did say there will be more power coming though.

Interesting note that the operations on former BGS track have reverted back to "BGS operations," while the company still falls under the Midwest Rail Transportation/IORY family. Sounds to me like it's just more of a way to share power and to have traffic move more efficiently.

Developing story on the IORY...

Sounds like plans could be in place to take over operations on the former Wabash between Fort Wayne/New Haven and Liberty Center. The track is currently operated by the Maumee & Western but with that company in peril the IORY is considering stepping in. If upgrades are made, the traffic will be there. Nothing huge, but enough for a decent profit. More than the MAW ever made.

More to come.

Word coming down from HQ about a couple new trains between Chicago and Columbus. Apparently CN and NS have some agreement worked out for some bridge traffic between the two cities and we are the chosen carrier. CNNS and NSCN should begin running before Christmas on a 5 or 6 day a week schedule. Sounds like the call time for the eastbound will be early morning and the westbound late evening.

Should make for some more interesting sets of power...

Plans are in place to add a connection to (what is now) the MAW in Liberty Center in the northeast quadrant of the diamond.

Haven't heard anything new on the potential takeover of the MAW, but from the way my source explained it to me; "No news is good news." Guess that means it's all hush-hush right now.

On another note, the auto traffic out of Flat Rock should become pretty regular sometime soon. Look for up to 3 loaded rack trains a week, with other traffic going out on FRLI. Most trains will go to the mixing center west of Delphos on the former CFE. Work on the yard is mostly complete. It's not very large but it is sufficient for the current needs. They're adding a job out of Lima (LIDE) to handle the Lima interchange, a job out of Fort Wayne (FWDE) for the Fort Wayne interchange, and a weekly train to Indianapolis. Other traffic will go to assorted destinations on assorted trains, but for now, all racks will go to the mixing center before going anywhere else.

Here's an updated locomotive roster, not including the BGS units unless they are on the north end of the IORY.

What will the crews think? GP50's don't have a good reputation in general freight operations.

I was wondering the same thing...most of the IORY guys I talk to hate the GP50's. From what I hear, the NALX units aren't that bad. They're in pretty good shape and run about as good as a GP50 can.

I was just reading (although I can't recall where) that some crews like them. Perhaps good conditions or perhaps the engineers are comfortable with its nuances.

Couple updates...

Word is that the Midwest Railnet Transportation Firm has acquired ownership of the WI&I (Western Illinois & Iowa) as part of a plan to create more competitive shipping lanes. The WI&I hosts an interesting, mainly EMD, roster of power.

A system map and roster will be up soon.
