The Plans Have Changed for the Bowling Green Southern

Unread post by Y@ »

After a major fallout on the RailAmerica side of the previous deal, the contract to end operations of the Bowling Green Southern was canceled just two weeks ago, and this week some major news came in. (Remember, this is all fun and fictional! :P )

Norfolk Southern ended operation over it's "Marion District" between Goshen, Indiana and Anderson, Indiana, and handed operations over to the Bowling Green Southern on October 11th, 2010. The new contract includes the BGS having trackage rights over NS from Goshen, into the yard at Elkhart, as well as a base of operations in the yard at Anderson.

Official train symbols weren't released until Wednesday, but here is the list. No official schedule has been released but trains have been running on a fairly regular schedule.

Northbound 103 - Anderson to Wabash - Intermodal. (CSX Q183 prior to handoff to BGS, becomes NS 43T in Wabash)
Southbound 104 - Wabash to Anderson - Intermodal. (NS 44T prior to handoff to BGS, becomes CSX Q184 in Anderson)
Northbound 135 - Anderson to Wabash - Automotive/General Freight. (Traffic goes to NS at Wabash.)
Southbound 136 - Wabash to Anderson - Automotive/General Freight. (Traffic comes from NS at Wabash.)
Northbound 161 - Anderson to Elkhart - General Freight.
Southbound 162 - Elkhart to Anderson - General Freight.
Northbound 189 - Wabash to Elkhart - General Freight. (NS 18K prior to handoff to BGS.)
Southbound 190 - Elkhart to Wabash - General Freight. (Becomes NS 19K at Wabash.)
Northbound 311 - Marion to Elkhart - General Freight. (Retains former NS symbol.)
Southbound 312 - Elkhart to Marion - General Freight. (Retains former NS symbol.)

Grain trains run as 400, 401 and 402. Symbols for extra intermodal/freight traffic are 105, 106, 197, 198, 303 and 304.

It's ironic that this portion of your paper railroad resembles a paper railroad I created years ago called Lake St. Clair & Western. It was a high density bridge line between St. Clair MI and St. Louis / Kansas City. Ferry traffic with both CN & CP on the east and western railroads on the west. :)
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...
