there is talks in the works to build a wye and a small yard on the main line and a branch line to the
hemlock semiconductor plant
and a pickle sorting station on the saginaw and gratiot county line for a team track to load pickles into reefers

AMV - I have a paper railroad of the same line. Although, in my fictional story the line was acquired when the line still went to Edmore where shortly after start-up, (1987) Cargill built a large elevator a mile south of Edmore on the old line to Greenville where 65 cars unit trains are loaded every month or so. So, while one engine can operate from Alma to Paines, it takes 3 to carry unit trains from Edmore . Looking forward to your updates.

12-14-09 7:30pm the 3rd shift crew arrives at merrill for work there power for the night is allready iddling and fueled up and ready to go they load up and get ready to go there power is srmx #4428 and samm #1550 they contact the yard tower for permision to leave the tower respondstrain #8 your clear to paines to pick up 20 empty cov hoppers from sbs and deliver them to the elevator in wheeler please call me when your ready to leave paines dispacher out the crew of train #8 throtels up the gp9 they left the sw1500 idling to save fuel and leaves the yard since there is ongoing track maintance track speed is 15mph it will take them an hour to reach paines

8pm train #8 reaches paines and hooks up to there train sets up #1550 to power the train and does there air test the crew gets permision to head to wheeler there train is now known as #3 they depart paines and head to wheeler
they will arrive in 1hr 15mins

9:20 train #3 arrives at wheeler and exchanges its 20 empty cov hoppers for 10 loaded covered hoppers

9:30 the train crew changes locomotives and does a air test and contacts the tower to return to merrill
there train is now called #4 they get permission to leave wheeler there eta to merrill is 15mins

9:45 train #4 arrives in merrill and yards there train on track #3 and takes there locos to the engine track and refill the fuel tanks then they go to the yard office to clock out and head home

the samm rr has went shopping for motive power they have purased nrex sd35 #2500 and a sdl39 #584 from cn both units have there center axels unpowered and #2500 is now non dynamic

to take to alma

the coach is going to owossow and the caboose to traverse city for a private individual

Cargill was planning a huge elevator in Edmore once upon a time and there's a feedmill in Remus that once considered some serious expansion. Remus also has a cheese plant. I think they used to load soy sauce or something like that at Millbrook. There's a plant in Edmore that received ceraqmic clay and of course a couple elevators between Edmore and Alma

a team track was built near m52 and m46 so local businesses can get rail service without tracks nearby

Sure does. IIRC NS exchanges cars for GRE north of the diamond on the old PRR / PC / CR main while CSX exchanges cars on the two transfer tracks in the southwest quadrant of the diamond.
